University student Tegan Donald first came to The Photo Studio Australia to get started with some headshots for her modeling portfolio. What she ended up leaving with is a collection of photos that expressed who she is as a person.
“I wanted to create the beginning of a modelling portfolio, and thought that getting professional shots would be a good start. I also had friends who have done shoots at The Photo Studio, and they all looked so good.” Says Tegan.
Drawing creative inspiration from blogs and brands on Instagram, she is inspired to create new outfits for herself. This inspiration helped her to come up with two styles for her shoot, with the soft natural shots contrasting with the darker neon. As Tegan says, this complementary approach helped craft a more diverse portfolio.
“With different styles, it also helped to create a more diverse portfolio. I wanted versatility in my photos to reflect my own style and what the agencies may be looking for.”
But as Tegan explains, the styling choices go further than just creating a versatile portfolio. Essentially producing an expression of who she is a person.
“My personal style varies so much, I don’t know if I could put it down to a single style. I try to be experimental with my personal style, and I like to change it up.”
Tegan is hopeful that by keeping her style and photos varied, she will be able to evoke different moods and emotions in different people. “There’s a sense of luxe and professionalism in the neon shots, whilst the natural shots are very light and bright,” says Tegan, “I guess hope people look at the photos and feel like, ‘yeah, she could be legit’”.
