Model Success Story | Kenneth Lew
At 31 years of age, Kenneth Lew had been urged by friends to look into modelling for years. He had done a couple of professional shoots before, but had no real male modelling experience until he visited The Photo Studio to build his portfolio. This turned out to be an amazing decision, as he landed a modelling contract with Wink Models just a couple of months after visiting our studio.
An incredibly hard worker, Kenneth has studied multiple degrees and has a full-time career in social media. While male modelling is still a side-job for him, it’s something he takes incredibly seriously, and is eager to see where it can take him.
“Modelling is my creative outlet from my day-to-day job and I wish to continue developing my modelling skills and getting more gigs. I want to work with many brands in the future, gain more exposure, and also increase diversity in the market”, says Kenneth
On the day of his shoot, Kenneth was nervous about posing, but was very excited to learn from professionals. He was an incredibly quick learner, and was able to able to bring some really fun elements to the styling and shots!
“I didn’t have any professional photos before coming to The Photo Studio, but I left with an impressive portfolio that I was able to use for my agency applications. The photos I submitted got noticed. I also got really good tips from The Photo Studio on how to build my modelling career and they provided me with a list of modelling agencies to apply for”.
Kenneth brought lots of clothes to his shoot, which was great for having options with styling. He ended up opting for both a casual look, and a fashion-forward look. Both looks represented his personality well, and didn’t detract from his natural modelling ability.
In regards to advice for anyone considering shooting with us, Kenneth says “Be yourself and be confident, the team is there to help you do your best during the shoot. I had no prior modelling experience but I was pleasantly surprised by how the photos turned out in the end.”
For Kenneth, perseverance is crucial to getting signed. “I started submitting my photos and applying for modelling agencies. I just kept sending my portfolio and landing interviews and ultimately it lead to getting signed”.
“The keys are patience and persistence. Apply for as many suitable modelling agencies as you can to increase the chances of getting signed. Expect to get rejections but don’t let it dishearten you. Keep trying and eventually the right agency will notice you”.
