Becoming an assistant enables you to learn the art and craft of professional photography, not from textbooks or class rooms, but from working side by side with some of the best photographers in the industry.

There is no better way to become a photographer than by being an integral part of a professional creative team. A good assistant sees how their photographers think and act. How they manage light, direct subjects, handle the production and orchestrate the combination of factors needed to deliver consistently great photographs.

About The Photo Studio

Founded in 2008 by renowned advertising photographer North Sullivan, The Photo Studio is Australia’s largest fashion portrait studio with locations across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The studio provides an entire creative team under one roof, specialising in fashion photography for aspiring models, personal and commercial clients.

Having established one of the strongest presences in the photography industry, the studio began to actively embrace and promote diversity and inclusion, making it a mission to fight fashion stereotypes and empower everyday people through extraordinary photography.

This is not your typical internship! Enrol in our Academy, an exclusive program designed to maximise your learning experience with us. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside seasoned professionals, gaining hands-on studio experience that will set you apart in the world of photography.

We believe in nurturing your creativity! Towards the end of your internship, you’ll have the chance to use our state-of-the-art studio to work on your very own portfolio. Showcase your unique style and vision, and watch your photography skills soar.

What You’ll Learn

Studio Operations

Immerse yourself in the daily operations of a top-notch photography studio. Learn the ins and outs of managing a successful photoshoot, and gain insights into what it takes to create stunning visual masterpieces.

Client Interaction

Your internship will include assisting clients during their photoshoot experience. Interact with them, understand their needs, and witness the magic of making them feel confident and beautiful in front of the camera.

Lighting & Equipment

Lights, camera, action! Discover the secrets of studio lights and equipment, and master the art of manipulating light to create mesmerising photographs.

How long does the Academy program take? The program requires a commitment of two days per week for 15 weeks (240 hours total)

Do I need previous photography experience? While basic photography experience is preferred, it is not required.

Am I guaranteed a job at the end? While this program will help set you up for future employment, we cannot guarantee it will lead to a job afterwards.

Does it cost money? There is no cost or payment required to participate in this program.
