Keeping movement in mind, it’s important to remember to utilize your entire body to get the perfect shot. Positioning your limbs correctly, elongating your neck and making sure that you’re holding your posture as straight as possible is all essential to looking your best on camera.
Put Your Best Face Forward.
Just as important as your body, is your face! Make sure to always keep your facial expressions in check and tailor them to suit the type of shoot. For commercial purposes, a happy, smiling face would be perceived well by the photographer. Alternatively, editorial shoots call for more demure, serious expressions. Having the right look on your face can make a world of difference, so try to always be conscious of what your face is doing.
Confidence is Key.
If you’re not feeling comfortable, this will likely be translated on camera. It’s natural to feel nervous on a shoot, especially for a beginner. However, this can be avoided by making sure that your posture is always straight, your chin is tilted upwards and your face is always relaxed. This can be tricky at first, so practicing your poses at home beforehand can really help you get that air of self-confidence that people love to see on set.
