Top 10 Staples for a Guy’s Photo Shoot

1. Suit

Suits are a key staple in any guys wardrobe. It’s best to bring in a couple of different styles (formal and business) and don’t forget your pocket squares and cufflinks!

2. Plain Tee

Every guy should have a few of these lying around. Plain white and plain black often work best, but navy and grey are also good options. The most important thing here is the fit.

3. Collared Shirt

This is pretty much a must have for any guy, as a button down shirt can be worn in so many ways. It’s generally best to go for long sleeve as you can always roll them up.

4. Denim

It’s no secret that denim look great on camera. Black, blue, worn, torn – chuck on a plain white tee, leather jacket and boots for a classic photo shoot look.

5. Chinos

Chinos are your middle man between jeans and a plain pant. They come in nice colours such as teal, burgundy and stone and can work with an outfit dressed up or down.

6. Jackets

Jackets, blazers and coats are some of the most versatile items in a guys photo shoot and are essential in achieving that layered editorial look.

7. Knitwear

Sweaters and jumpers in neutral tones always photograph well for a guys photo shoot. Chunky knit, high neck, pullovers; knitwear works for all ages and achieves a casual yet sophisticated look.

8. Underwear

Don’t be embarrassed guys, if Justin Bieber did it, so can you! Even if your not planning on going shirtless, the top of your underwear may be exposed in certain poses so bring in your best pairs!

9. Props

Props and items with sentimental value are a great way to capture your personality on camera. Sports gear, musical instruments, pipes and interesting artifacts all photograph well.

10. Accessories

Accessories are items that you wear which aren’t clothing (hats, belts, watches, jewelry). They add depth and credibility to a look and can make or break a photo shoot.
