Off Duty Model | Style That Look

How is it that model’s make their off-duty style seem so easy?

They get papped walking out of their house; takeaway coffee in one hand and their iPhone in the other as if they’ve just strolled out of bed! Deep down we all know that anything dubbed “effortless” takes at least a little work. So we picked the brains of our creative team to find out how to style the Off Duty Model look ready for your next photo shoot.

Wardrobe Styling

The key to styling your casual model look is to focus on contrasts. If you’re going for an oversized knit then pair it with super skinny jeans or leather trousers. Think simple but chic basics like classic shirts, high waist skinny jeans and ankle boots. They’re key staples in anyone’s wardrobe and are the perfect way to style your effortless look. If you have any plain T shirts that are flattering and sit perfectly on your body, then bring them to your shoot! You can tuck basic tops half way in to your jeans for that super chic ‘messy look’ model finish.

Hair

Now that you’ve gathered together the very best of your basics, it’s time to move onto how you should tame those tresses. Your hairstyle should scream “I woke up like this!”. This can be achieved with a messy top knot, loose beach waves and even a bit of back combing. Head Makeup Artist MJ says “the key this hair style is to make sure it’s not too slick or smooth so it’s best to use a bit of salt spray to create some texture.” We don’t want to go overboard with any hair styling products though as a model’s hair is always well looked after and healthy!

Makeup

Your makeup should be barely there as the idea is to achieve the “no makeup, makeup look”. A medium coverage foundation that allows your skin to breath through it and show your beautiful features is how your effortless transformation should begin. It’s imperative to stick to nude tones and no drastic pops of colour. Soft but defined brows create drama for your look and brown mascara makes you look way more natural. Gigi Hadid is our nude makeup poster girl, she nails the earthy tones every time!

Here’s where our rule of contrasts comes in again, if you’re going for bold eyebrows, make sure the rest of your makeup look is super toned down whereas if you want a strong brown lip, you should make sure your eyes are soft and carry little makeup.

Your favourite music will be blasting through the studio speakers so it’s time to enjoy yourself and know that you’re owning your photo shoot!
