Model Success Story | Charlotte Allen

Agency: Bettina Management

Charlotte is a creative talent and a dancer, so she was a natural when she came to our studio for her photo shoot! She signed with Bettina Management, so  we caught up with her for a little Q&A session. You can read it below.

How did you find out about The Photo Studio?

I do a lot of dancing, and besides performing with my dance school, I enter dance competitions and audition to be in an external company’s full-scale productions. This means I have had to do a lot of professional dance photo shoots. Earlier this year, I noticed that one of the photographers used to take our promotional photos, follows ‘The Photo Studio’ on Instagram. This led me to check out The Photo Studio!

How helpful was The Photo Studio in kickstarting your modelling career?

I was unsure how I would feel about modelling and if I would be any good at it. When I went to your studio in Melbourne, it was such a professional shoot and gave me a good idea of how things go on set. I was really comfortable; it was fun, and the photos looked great. I also attended the Introduction to Modelling Webinar and the Social Media Masterclass, which had some great content and were very helpful.

What agency are you signed with?

I am signed with Bettina Management.

What kind of modelling are you doing now?

I hope to get into runway, dance/health/fitness and editorial modelling.

What is your next big goal in your modelling career?

My first real goal was to get signed, then over the COVID-19 lockdowns, I focused on the competition with Teen Model Australia and setting up a separate work Instagram account. Now I am hoping to get an ambassador role with a dance or fitness clothing company. I’d love one day to walk the Chanel runway during the Paris Fashion week.

Are you enjoying modelling?

As COVID-19 hit, I’ve been in lockdown and had limited access to working but I love the photoshoots I’ve done. I especially like the ones that tell a story and can’t wait to get into some crazy makeup and the more theatrical looks of editorial modelling. I am particularly loving the current edgy Swarovski campaign.

Tell us a bit about Teen Model Australia!

I came across Teen Model Australia on Instagram and noted that many other teen models follow them. They showcase teens and tweens on social media and in their magazines in a great positive light. It’s a competitive industry, but they have a supportive and age-appropriate vibe. They hold regular competitions and know a lot about the industry. By being selected as one of their ambassadors, I hope that I will grow my network and be noticed within Australia and maybe even overseas!

What was your favourite portfolio photo, and why?

It’s hard to pin it down to only one favourite… But if I had to, I’d choose the one in my ‘white shirt’ series. I love it as I have daylight coming in from the window behind, I am looking right at the camera, I look natural and comfortable. I am just in basic clothes – a white shirt and jeans. It proves you don’t need any fancy things to look good.
