Model Success Story | Stephan Rochescouste

Professional Wheelchair Tennis Player Stephan Rochecouste came to the Photo Studio Australia with the goal of creating a shoot help make disability male modelling more mainstream.

For the shoot, Stephan took creative nods from big name brands such as Dior, Louis Vuitton and Hugo Boss. Working with the team, his photo shots were used to tell a wider story involving the nature of disability and modelling.

“I wanted to show that both the model and the clothes could be on show in a fashion piece, and being able to present the disability nature of the model is really where the wheelchair comes into play.” Says Stephan.

“The mixing of colours, clothes and stances could represent the resilience in my black and white photos. Or the accomplished, stylish sort of look that I have going on in the shots with the scotch glass.”

Stephan hopes his portfolio will be able to provide a sense of hope and empowerment for others. As well as, that disability could be a mainstay in the fashion industry, with people getting behind a movement that breaks down stigmas.

“I hope that the clothes will represent the model and not the other way around, to a point where clothing brands will branch out from the clothing industry and look to accommodate and design wheelchairs. Like how cool would it be to have a wheelchair designed by Nike, Lacoste or even Alex Perry?”

“I would love fashion to move in that direction and that’s the sort of feeling I want people to have when they look at my photos.”
