Q&A with Georgia Russell
The Photo Studio interviewed 17-year-old Georgia, a proud Asian woman. She has always strived for inclusion, diverse representation and embracing ethnic features that fall outside of the traditional beauty standards and conventional norms. Georgia has taken pride in her unique features, which has been a massive milestone for her as it has not always been so easy for her to love. “To be a part of this representation through the art of modelling is so incredibly empowering for me, and I hope it can help others to embrace their unique features as well”.

How did you find out about The Photo Studio?
I discovered the photo studio through Instagram, I just so happened to come across them when I was considering starting. My modelling career, and I believe that reaching out was one of the best decisions I have ever made!
How helpful was The Photo Studio in kickstarting your modelling career?
The photo Studio team was so lovely and welcoming. Everyone involved came together as a team and made sure to include my goals throughout the creation of my portfolio. I cannot thank them enough for doing such an incredible job and making me feel so comfortable in front of the camera despite it being my first photoshoot. When it came to kick-starting my modelling career, I had no clue where to start. However, the photo studio provided me with realistic options and information on everything I needed to know as well as suggestions from agencies. Having a portfolio certainly filled with high-resolution photographs featuring a variety of styles captured by the talented and creative photography team at the photo studio, allowed me to have a head start with my career, not only did it leave me with an amazing portfolio and some experience in front of the camera, but it also left me feeling confident and optimistic about my future.
What agency are you signed with?
I recently signed with Genesis Model Management London.
Are you enjoying modelling?
I love modelling, it’s my passion. I enjoy being able to create a connection between brands and their audience, as well as this I am a super creative person and thoroughly enjoy being a part of the creation of art through modelling.
What kind of modelling are you doing now?
Due to committing to my final year of high school, it has meant that my modelling career will start on completion of year 12.
What is your next big goal in your modelling career?
As discussed with genesis model management, plans of me travelling to London for some time at the end of the year (when I turn 18 and have completed year 12) will be the next step in my career which I am most definitely excited for.
What was your favourite portfolio photo and why?
This was honestly such a hard decision to make as I love them all! however my favourite portfolio photo would have to be the one below. I feel as though the photographer has really managed to enhance my feminine energy but also incorporate and capture a sense of masculinity within my features, i also believe my height and ethnic features depict a heightened sense of uniqueness which I love!
