So you want to be a model but perhaps don’t know where to begin? It can be tough navigating your way through your very first photoshoot! Let us guide you through our best tips to make sure you make the most of your Modelling Portfolio shoot.
1. Dress to Impress
Find outfits that compliment you and your personality! Choose a range of looks from casual to formal to make sure you get plenty of diversity in your images.
Think about what kind of model you want to be, where you would like to be featured, and pick a wardrobe to match!
It’s always a great idea to have a mood board, including colours or outfit styles you want to try. Our creative team can work with your mood board to make your vision a reality!
2. Be Bold
Don’t be afraid to be fierce with your photos! Passion and flare will help you stand out from the rest. When viewing your photos, choose the ones you have a strong connection with that reflect who you are at your best!
This will allow you to work easily with clients in the future as they will already have an idea of your strengths and who you are as a model.
3. Variety is The Spice of Life
Make sure that you try out different lighting, backgrounds and scenes to give your portfolio depth. Agencies appreciate diversity in a portfolio. No one trick pony’s here!
Ensure you have images showing off every angle of your body. Include a mix of full length & quarter length shots as well as headshots! The more images you can include showing different things, the more impressive it will be.
4. More Is More!
Not everyone has the same idea of what works and what doesn’t. The more photos you have in your portfolio, the better chance you have at catching the eye of a prospective client.
Generally, portfolios will have a minimum of 10 images and a maximum of 20. Work within these numbers when planning your shoot to make sure you have the right types of images.
