1. Find your personal fashion icon
When finding your fashion icon take into consideration what it is that you like about their style. Is it the way they layer pieces together? How they accessorise? Or simply the general style of each piece? Use your style icon not as someone to copy but instead someone to seek inspiration from. Your fashion icon doesn’t have to currently be on trend. There are plenty of vintage style icons such as Aubrey Hepburn and Twiggy.

If you work in an office your everyday style may be constructed upon the business chic aesthetic. Business attire doesn’t have to be mundane black pencils skirts and simple blouses. Instead opt for a vibrant colour or a different cut of pant such as a fun culotte. If you work outdoors you may need to consider investing in good quality durable designs such as puffer jackets, sweaters and fleece wear.

Your body shape is unique. Becoming accustomed to what you feel best in and what flatters your shape can be an empowering experience. Whether you have an hour glass or a pear-shaped figure we all have the ability to wear what we want when we want. Remember your body shape doesn’t define you or prevent you from feeling the best version of yourself.

Working with the basics in your wardrobe is a simple way to create a foundation to your style. Basics such as a pair of black or blue jeans, turtlenecks and t-shirts can allow you to layer your outfits. Once you have your basics organised you can incorporate unique styling into your outfits such as accessories. Starting from the basics can also help define your style such as whether you follow a casual, sophisticated, tom – boy or bohemian style.
